OK, so here are some alternatives

Irrlicht
- Usable with C#, Java and C++. However, it's only flexible when used with C++
- Works on all platforms
- Note: In its turn, makes use of DirectX or OpenGL

Ogre
- Like Irrlicht

DirectX
- Usable with C# and C++
- Well supported
- Only works on Windows

OpenGL
- usable with C++, Delphi and Java
- cross-platform

I know a bit about the OpenGL but generally we use it for the fps games style, it's used with C++, Delphi, Java.
