Well, we already had some discussion about the interface in the pre-projects. We all agree that intuitivity and simplicity are key elements.
That word, elements, got me thinking. Most games have a forced locations for the interface. What if we were to make each and every element of the interface moveable?
If we can do that, it will be easier for people to adapt to the interface. Some prefer it to be at the top of the screen, others at the bottom and again others like it at either the right or left side of the screen. With moveable elements, they can just organise the interface the way they want.
Moveable interfaces have been done before. We can take it one step further by adding a few preset setups for the interface and allowing people to save their own setup, so they can use it with every new game they start, with every mod based on the same engine. We can make it possible to force interface elements in a certain position, should a mod/game require that.
It will be a bit harder to make the graphics for the elements, since they have to fit on countless places, but I think this will be worth it.

that's a #@*(# good idea
we shouldn't make it so that it can only be altered outside of game. just have draggable windows, like a tycoon game

Heck, let's break up all the interface elements and let people put them where they want. If they want the interface in the middle of the screen, they can do it!
