If you want to become a developer, sign up here.

Developers get:
- The "Developer" status in the forums
- Access to the Throne Room forum
- Permission to commit files on SVN

Naturally, in turn you'll be expected to put some effort into the development of the project

We won't let newbies in, you have to prove yourself in the forums first Wink (not so much your technical qualities, but your motivations and trustworthyness).

Hi,
I started thinking yet again about making a game, then counted the number of times I already had this plan and concluded that developing a complete game on your own is virtually impossible. So i googled a bit and found this page.
I might be interested in contributing a bit (or a lot) depending on what direction this will take.

Im a professional java and j2ee developer and been programming for about 16 years. Big games fan, and still see myself turning professional game developer one day.

What I see from the information on the forums and wiki is that it seems you are atm still completely at the start and not a lot of development has been made.

So, Im gonna read the rest of the site, and see if I get any replies here.

ps. My personal interest lies in architecture, graphics programming, physics, network, ... basically everything but GUI.

Hello,

Welcome to this project. Glad to have an experienced programmer here Smiley
At the moment we're just brainstorming about the RTS engine/game. At the same time we're working on a 2d game engine and a 2d rpg on top of it, as a sort of practice/demo project.
More information: http://www.openwarengine.org/victory

If you will, please write a topic in the introductions forum Wink
(also, as a matter of fact we're using Java 6...or do you mean that that is too new?)

nono java 6 is not too new Smiley

But java 5 introduced real difference to the language, (enums, generics, ...) Where as java 6 only differs in API and the virtual machine.

So with java 5 I ment the language specification

ah ok. well i see many people who try to comply even to Java 1.0 (especially for applets) but i'm more a kind of person who just feels people shouldn't be too lazy to update their java version Smiley
