There are modelers and skinners everywhere, but I can't really name any sound artists or composers in the modding/amateur game development area. Any leads are welcome.

We'll be hard pressed to find any, certainly right now. We have nothing to show them...

Music and voices are important, but not part of the basic layer of a game. Before we go off hunting audio artist, we should have something for them to do...

I doubt you're going to get custom music. You'll have to use some from independent artists (myspace is your friend), and I know a guy who's pretty good with sound editing (I know how to do it also, but I have little experience in it).

Also if this project gets really big, I doubt it'll be hard to find bands or people that just like to hear themselves talk help us. Basically all show-business noobs Smiley

It's MoS, so he won't be on until tonight.

Are there "free sound effects" websites? There's a mucho Grande amount of textures and fonts online, you'd think there would be commercial-license sound effects, too Smiley

Maybe not commercial, but who will ever know? The game's free anyway.

there are lots of free sound effects, but 99% of them is too generic and/or utter crap

I might be able to get someone to help out here, but I wouldn't want to approach him about it until after this project really has a lot of momentum behind it.  He's absolutely awesome, but the catch is that he's a professional, so I'll have to pull a favour to get anything for free.

http://www.morgancasey.com/

She works for free (as far as I know), and has already composed music for several big name modifications (a few for RTW, RA and Elven Alliance).

i saw that, but we will need a good deal of work done (and i mean presentable work, which actually looks good to non-programmers/modders) before we may convince her to do something

No, he meant that there is no work to be done now. If you stay around, there will be work for you eventually Wink

Well, that too :p

But what I actually meant was: "If you keep reading these forums, you will probably notice for yourself when we have need of a music person (because I don't plan on discussing these things somewhere 'private'), therefore it would be unneccesary to manually contact you (though it could be handier) Wink"

Speaking of translation, supporting a multi-lingual game, both in sounds and text, should definitely be on the to-do list.

I can do Spanish (but put the argentinian flag!!) translations. I speak Spanish normally. As I can manage well in English.
