Here's another crazy idea for OpenWar, one that is obviously low on the priority list: A movie studio.

In it's most basic form, it would load a replay from a previously played game. In this replay the user can set up camera shots, which can be previewed in a realtime normal detail mode. When he is satisfied with them, he can let the studio render them in ultra high quality and record them to his harddisk, after which he can edit them in his favourite video editing software.

It sounds harder than it is. Through clever usage of common classes, it's just a matter of providing another interface to the game world.

In a more advanced form, the user would be able to import a replay, or start from scratch, and then add/edit actions and events in the scene.

It makes sense; I know I've always wanted to take in-game footage without fraps, and having some extra functionality is never a bad thing.
