Here is a little concept of a wizards tower. I realise it's a bit dull, but the more spectacular ideas I had were closer to being LOTR copies.

The wizards prefer to be as intangible as possible.  While they do have towers (PLENTY of towers ^_^) they don't have any master towers.  Their inner workings are not bound to any one location.  They are dispersed physically, yet in another sense they are highly integrated and organized.  The singular "master" tower is metaphorical, while the smaller "chapter" towers are physical.  These smaller towers wouldn't dominate the skyline.

One thing I want to establish is a very "introverted" feel to the wizards, hence the details should be on the interior.  Individual towers would not look inconspicuous or outlandish from the exterior.  However, they're not exactly normal either.  The occasional green glow from one of the windows, perhaps a few arcane constructs along the rooftop and exterior, and of course an ominous approach to scare off the riff-raff.  I don't like the external staircase, simply because I could imagine some wizards getting particularly annoyed at having to keep scaling it every time they want to come and go.

Right now I'm being VERY cautious because the wizards of Tharwain are very similar to the magi in another one of my fiction worlds.  I'm striving to keep the two concepts different.
